Outties!

In My American Idol Addiction on February 29, 2008 at 11:29 pm

Ah finally Jason Yeager left the show.  I’m just glad I don’t have to see his annoying smile anymore.  And Alexandra Lushington, I think deserves another chance.  But she’s not one contestant that I’ll miss too terribly.  As for Alaina Whitaker, aaawww… now she’s what I call the next big thing in entertainment as she didn’t screw the production crew over with an on-the-spot rundown change just because she too tearful to sing.  She bravely stepped up and did her last song.  Thank your lucky stars, producers.  Even though she didn’t make it in the show, at least you have a name when you need a filler for your other shows.  And lastly, Robbie Carico.  Finally, dude.  My final advice would be, get a ticket to England and audition for Take That.  Or form a boyband called ‘Spice Boys’ or something.  Seriously.  You’ll earn huge caaassshh!

Before I end this very short post, I just want to point out something.  Remember that I said I am getting bored with Ramielle’s hairdo?  Well turned out that it was an instant trend, because our judge Ms. Paula Abdul appeared tonight with one side longer hair than the other.  And Ramielle went with a curly wavy ‘do.  What is this?  Reverse role-play?  Man.  It’s sick.

The good thing tonight is, my favorites are still in the show and they are apparently getting better from the flu.  Which leads to my question:  what happens if one survives one’s ‘under the weather’ condition?  Does one get ‘over the weather’?

Funny.

Let’s Just Talk Dresses, People. Seriously.

The girls were a bit off this week, as they are bordering on an unusual mediocrity which reminded me of our own Indonesian Idol contestants -post Joy and Delon, that is.  So, I’m just gonna leave it to the judges about their voices and start commenting on their appearance for a change.  After all, I think the producers realized that they weren’t in shape to really perform as some of them were really sick and all that they were dressed up really nicely.  An attempt to divert attention?  Possibly.  But hey, our Indonesian Idol stylist(s) can actually sit tight and take notes because apart from their so-so voices tonight, (some of) these girls looked like a million dollars.  Here goes.

Week 2 Guys’ Night on American Idol

In My American Idol Addiction on February 28, 2008 at 1:08 am

Okay before I write anything, I’m just gonna pretend to ignore Simon Cowell’s wink to Ryan Seacrest.  Hang on, let me get myself together.

Almost there…

Just a little bit more…

Okay.  I’ve found my peace, and no, Cowell’s not Seacrest’s love interest.  No.

Right.  Phew.  Been reading too much Idol blogs that are saying that they are flirting.  NO.  Okay, cool it.

Here goes.

Crazy About Kreyzie

In Entertainment, Musically Me on February 25, 2008 at 11:51 pm

Yes I am.

There’s a new cool band in town called Sister Duke.  I don’t even know they existed until this evening when my friend Mr. Egghead, a deejay at Hard Rock FM Jakarta, suggested that I listen to them.  I did, and I fell in love with the music there and then.

And as somebody who most probably won’t be able to attend the Java Jazz Festival 2008 *sob*, I think I’m just gonna listen to their CD.

Please check their MySpace profile here.  They’ll blow you away.

Trust me.

Quote of The Day

In Heartwarming on February 25, 2008 at 11:25 am

I know this isn’t a new quote, but this is indeed suitable for me today.

“Work like you don’t need the money, love like you’ve never been hurt
and dance like you do when nobody’s watching.”

Yeah, sometimes you can just tell when somebody needs lifting up.  And badly.

First Cut on AI

In My American Idol Addiction on February 23, 2008 at 12:17 pm

I should say Ryan Seacrest pulled a rather brutal cut on Garrett Haley last night.  You know, I think I feel kinda sorry for Haley.  He’s a contestant with the lowest camera time compared to the others, and to have been eliminated in the virginal top 24 round is absolutely terrible.  And to make matters worse, the producers thought that it would add the suspense by kicking him off there and then.  Too bad for the little dude, but I can’t say I’m gonna remember which one he was after this anyway.

The Girls’ Night Onstage!

In My American Idol Addiction on February 22, 2008 at 1:32 am

Allright, let’s not talk much and get right on to business.

Kristy Lee Cook.  I never really liked this girl from the very beginning.  She looks so… staged.  Performing Aretha Franklin’s “Rescue Me”, she was definitely… plain.  The tank top was gorgeous, though.

Joanne Borgella, the plus-size model from New Jersey.  True that size doesn’t matter.  And what I mean by that is… being plus-sized doesn’t always mean that you’ll immediately sound like Lakisha or Aretha.  When you’re average, no matter how big you are, you’re just not big enough.

Dedicated To My Brothers And Sisters

In Giggle To This!, Me Likey, My Amazing Race Asia Addiction, Video Post on February 21, 2008 at 1:34 pm

I never believed in ‘Wild Cards’ when it comes to American Idol.  To me, once you’re out, you’re out.  But I think we can all predict who will be returning to perform in the finals.  He’s my favorite contestant, brothers and sisters everywhere, I am proud to present before you… the today version of William Hung, the suave gentleman, the charismatic Renaldo Lapuz!

And should you want to sing along, here’s the lyric.

Top 12 Boys Of The New Season

In My American Idol Addiction on February 20, 2008 at 9:40 pm

Right. It’s time again to comment on AI season 7’s top 24 and on to the first 12. It’s the guys’ night and I was eager to see some good performances. Here goes.

David Hernandez started the show with a song that’s quite often heard in the competition. “In The Midnight Hour” failed to entertain me as this guy looked like he just stepped into a gas chamber. The voice? Not so bad. But he’s got an eerie resemblance to Enrique Iglesias sans the mole. Wait, Mr. Iglesias have got that removed as well. So yeah, it’s just weird.

My Love For Cable

In TV Talk on February 16, 2008 at 2:03 am

If there’s one thing I can’t miss for a day beside the morning and pre-bed phone calls from Mr. Boyfriend, it’s TV and I mean my beloved cable.

I’ve kinda given up on local TV for quite some time now.  The only things I watch on local TV are news (and put METRO TV on that, please) and that funny funny game show “Hole In The Wall”.  I’ve given up on the rest, well of course I’ll make an exception whenever Ms. Laura is on-screen, giving Indonesians a lesson on how to pronounce English words the right way.  She’s far more entertaining than Anton Hilman, Nisrina Nur Ubay or any “English” teachers ever aired in Indonesian television.
