Amish Paradise

In Giggle To This!, Silly Posts, Video Post on October 30, 2008 at 5:32 am

So I’ve been feeling a little bit Amish for the past week because Astro TV, my sucky satellite channels provider, suddenly said BYE to paying customers without any warning whatsoever.  I think they missed out on the SELAMETAN thing (or probably too cheap to have one) before they started their business here as they have been nothing but PISSING OFF their customers.  And while waiting for my Indovision to be installed, I’m left TV-less.  See that’s the reason why I missed last Thursday’s Amazing Race Asia.  And the premier of the newest Grey Anatomy’s season.  And a whole lot of other stuff.

Luckily I got a new toy named after a fruit that’s able to amuse me for hours (when not working, that is) as I don’t work in huge corporations.  I still remember vividly the looks on my bosses’ faces whenever theirs beep indicating there’s an important e-mail coming from God knows where and whenever.  To me my berry is a toy to help me get over stupid ASStro.

That’s the major downer of the week.  A lot of other stuff happened too and here they are in random order:

More Pet Peeve!

In Silly Posts on September 5, 2008 at 5:06 am

Okay people.

I am seriously getting tired of hearing the sophisticated “ERMAY” or “EYRMEE” or “HERMEY” whenever this bag comes into view:

It’s pronounced… AIR MEZ, PEOPLE!!!!!!!

PHEW!

Pop!

In Giggle To This!, Randomness, Silly Posts on July 29, 2008 at 4:53 am

Went to an old friend’s wedding on Saturday.  It was a church wedding and it was beautiful.

The only thing that struck me was the choir’s pop-ish playlist.  If I’m not mistaken, it has Nat King Cole’s “L.O.V.E”, Andra & The Backbone’s “Sempurna”, some other ‘today tunes’ and the ultimate selection: Phantom of The Opera’s “All I Ask of You”.

I love the songs as they are weirdly appropriate to be sung inside a church by a somewhat funky choir which made it all the more enjoyable.  But I’ve always thought that “All I Ask of You” is kinda desperate, lyric wise.  Am I wrong here?  Again, it was beautiful, though.  I think selecting songs from musicals for your wedding is really smart.

Well, not just any musicals.  It would be weird to have “Keep It Gay” of “Springtime for Hitler” from The Producers in a wedding.

LOL.

(Un)Conventionally Yours

Just had a deep conversation with Mr. J (no, not Jesus) and we spoke about stuff that might not be comprehensive to other beings who probably wouldn’t understand our lingo.  But the thing that got caught on my memory is when we spoke about living in this conventional world.

Crying At Weddings: Why?

In Randomness, Silly Posts on May 31, 2008 at 12:45 am

It’s been a while since my last girlie ponders post, but I really can’t stop myself from wondering about this phenomenon.  It’s right there on every chick-flick, it seems like it’s the IT thing to do circa Julia Roberts’ My Best Friend’s Wedding, and it’s nowhere near stopping.

Dear readers, I would just like to address one question to all of you:

“Do you cry at weddings because you really feel emotionally attached to the couple’s arrival at the peak of their relationship by the tying of the knot, or do you just do it like the start of every junkie’s addiction:

…because all the cool kids are doing it?

It is understandable to cry at the weddings of those who are near and dear to you because the probable cause of your crying could just be:

Buying “Not Buying It”

In Me Likey, Silly Posts on April 13, 2008 at 4:40 pm

Saturday was pretty active for me, because usually I get out of bed around 11, watch E! for latest weekend gossip and slowly makes my move to the bathroom and get ready for my per-lunch swim. After the swim, it’s usually followed by a late lunch and back to bed for a snuggly session in bed of MORE television watching.

Yesterday I woke up around 10.30, dashed into the bathroom to get ready to meet my friend Arie Dagienk for lunch. We have been planning on meeting up since the first spark of our future collaboration work surfaced. That was around… 2005. Yeah. After almost three years of not talking about this project and meet up just for the sake of dancing around and giggling about people’s fashion mishaps, we FINALLY met at Cilandak Town Square, where the wifi is free and the food fabulous. This time, we talked business and he surprised me with his determination. Fingers crossed, people. This is going to happen as it HAS to happen. Will update everybody on this 😉

Not-So-Secret Service

In Entertainment, Giggle To This!, Questions, Reviews, Silly Posts on March 30, 2008 at 1:17 am

“I don’t get why the secret service is called ‘secret service’. To me, standing behind the president all the time to be seen by lots of people doesn’t seem like a secret”
“Well…”
“I mean, come on.  They all wear the same suits, same sunglasses, same earpieces… they are nowhere near secretive”
“Well they are not secretive.  Their missions are”
“Whatever, I think they should be named something else.  Say ‘President’s Guards’ or something.  That’s at least what our country does rightly”
“In general, they are doing something secretive.  Thus the secret service”
“Okay, what do those guys do.  Tell me.”
“Protect the president”
“You know that?  I thought it was supposed to be a secret mission!”
“Baby, I gotta pee.”

And so he made a beeline to the toilet, and I was there, now thinking about how those secret service guys should act, if they wanna pee during their guarding session.

All this because of watching Vantage Point.  Brilliant storytelling, very simple story, a bit boring in the middle but a hell lot of action.

Loved it!

Is This A Sign?

In Silly Posts on February 6, 2008 at 1:00 pm

I found this fact on a random website today:

St. Patric, the patron saint of Ireland,  was not Irish.

This is a sign.  Seriously, I’m applying to be the next American president, because “St. Miund” sounds ridiculous.

The (Not So) Messy Hairdo

In Randomness, Silly Posts on November 21, 2007 at 1:21 am

This post goes out to all those trendy hairstylists out there.

I just need to vent on this and ask you guys one very important thing that’s been bugging me for years now.  And it’s funny that the trigger for this fashion question is actually a scene from the hit series “Scrubs”. Yeah, I’ve been reminiscing the glorious first season by watching the DVDs and there’s this one scene where Dr. Cox pats J.D.’s head and complained on how much J.D. uses hair styling products and J.D. says he doesn’t.  He even claimed that his hair naturally looks like that.

Now the question is:

Who started the “messy” hairdo with so-called “texturizing wax” on so-called “celebrities” and then charge “regular” people to pay a “shitload” to be “messed up“?
